Product Details

In the field of 3D printing, ABS resin has become a commonly used material due to its good strength, toughness and temperature resistance. However, pure ABS resin is usually white. If a black or other color appearance is desired, painting is usually required. Here are the basic steps for spray painting black matte ABS parts:

Preparation Phase:

Use an appropriate cleaner to thoroughly clean ABS parts to remove oil, dust and other impurities from the surface. Inspect the surface of the part for scratches, dents, or other damage that may affect the final paint finish. Also, if there are parts of the part that do not need to be painted, you can use masking or tape to cover them to prevent spray paint from getting into those areas.

Primer treatment:

Spray the part with a coat of primer, which will help enhance the adhesion of the topcoat and provide an even base. Depending on the type of primer, you may need to wait a while for the primer to dry completely.

Black matte paint spray:

After the primer is dry, you can use a spray gun or spray bottle to evenly spray black matte paint on the ABS parts. Make sure the coating thickness is even and avoid being too thick or too thin. Multiple coats can be applied as needed to obtain the desired coating thickness and color depth.

Drying and curing:

Allow the part to dry naturally or bake at the appropriate temperature according to the instructions for the paint used to ensure the paint is fully cured. After drying, check whether the coating is even, bubble-free, and has no bleeding marks.

Post-processing:

If desired, the coating can be further sanded or polished to achieve a more subtle matte finish.

Protect the painted surface with a protectant or wax coating to extend its life and maintain a matte finish.

When spray painting, make sure the work environment is well ventilated and wear appropriate protective equipment to avoid inhaling harmful paint mist or gases.
